Saga Bay 1.7 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project

Location:

The Project limits include the following local streets: North of S.W. 207 Street, South of S.W. 203 Street, East of S.W. 83 Avenue, and West of S.W. 80 Court.

Estimated Start:

The project is tentatively scheduled to commence the second week of February 2022.

Estimated Completion:

Project is anticipated to substantially complete by August 2022. 

Summary:

The Saga Bay 1.7 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project will undergo stormwater and roadway improvements during the upcoming months as part of the Town’s Capital Improvement Program that will improve the stormwater management system and treat runoff pollutants within this sub-basin as well as roadway resurfacing as per plans and specifications.

The current drainage system in this sub-basin consists of isolated French Drains and Catch Basins. Roadside swales also provide some water quality pre-treatment and storage of roadway run-off. The existing drainage infrastructure does not discharge adequate runoff, and the neighborhood is experiencing flooding issues.

The project will consist of drainage improvements, roadway resurfacing, pavement markings, sidewalk repairs and site restoration. These improvements are expected to alleviate the existing draining deficiencies in the area, improve the water quality of the stormwater run-off, enhance the neighborhood, and improve drivability.

Road Access:

Access to local roads will be maintained during construction, however, traffic patterns in the area will be altered as the project progresses and delays will be expected.

Cost:

• $838,397.07

Funding:

• $600,000 from a Florida Department of Environmental Protection Grant (FDEP)
• $238,397.07 from Stormwater Utility Fund
