Careers in STEM Summer Camp
Program Overview
With funding from The Children's Trust, we are offering a FREE Careers in STEM Summer Camp for up to 40 participants entering grades 6 through 8 (middle school) in the 2024-25 school year. The camp will take place in the Council Chambers at Cutler Bay Town Center, 10720 Caribbean Boulevard, Cutler Bay, FL 33189.
During this six-week summer camp, participants will learn to build and program a VEX IQ Robot while discovering the world of robotics and engineering. Participants will also have the potential to earn an Introduction to Robotics Certification from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Academy. The program ends with a Robotics Exhibition, where participants display their robotic creations.

- Educational field trips
- Career exploration
- Group STEM activities and presentations
- Social/emotional learning activities
- Fitness and nutrition education
- Lunch and a snack offered daily
Program Dates and Hours
- June 17 through July 26
- Robotics Exhibition event will take place on Saturday, July 27
- Camp hours are Monday through Friday. Drop-off starts at 8:30 a.m. Camp starts at 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- No camp on June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, or on July 4th, in observance of the Independence Day
Program Eligibility
- Proof of Grade Level (child must be entering 6th, 7th or 8th grade)
- Although not a requirement, priority will be given to students who meet one of the following conditions:
- Resident of Cutler Bay, or attend school in Cutler Bay (Government issued ID, utility bill, school documents with address)
- Proof of Low to Moderate Income (pay stubs, receipt of safety net benefits)
- Special Populations (referral from DCF, DJJ, Foster Care, School Referral, etc.)
- Lack of Supervision at Home (notarized statement from parent/guardian, referral from local agency)
- Youth with Disability (self-report by parent, copy of IEP, medical report)
Program Deadline
Applications will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the 40 slots in the program have been filled, we will continue accepting applications, which will be placed on a waitlist.

- Please be advised that submitting an application does not indicate your child is guaranteed a spot in the program. Town staff will review your application and will reach out shortly after to confirm if your child has been accepted into the program
Please ensure you have all the requested documentation before uploading your application. Incomplete applications, or applications missing required documentation, will be considered ineligible and will NOT be processed.
- Please note that applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the program between May 6-10, 2024.

Paper Applications
If you cannot gain access to the internet or do not have an email address, paper applications will be available at the Cutler Bay Town Center, 10720 Caribbean Boulevard, Suite 105, Cutler Bay, Florida 33189.
Applications, together with all required documentation, may be returned in-person Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM and 5 PM at the Cutler Bay Town Center to Christine Vega, Administrative Coordinator.
