Town Council Workshop with Design Team Propels Legacy Park and Municipal Complex Project Forward in Cutler Bay

Cutler Bay, June 6, 2024 - The Town of Cutler Bay is excited to share the progress made on the development of the 16-acre Legacy Park and Municipal Complex project. During the May 15, 2024, Town Council Workshop, the Town Council and design team engaged in productive discussions to refine the aesthetic, functionality, and budget considerations of the project.

Led by Mayor Tim Meerbott, the workshop highlighted the collaborative effort between the Town Council and the design team to ensure that the project meets the community's needs and expectations. The design team (Saltz Michelson Architects, Michael Graves, and EDSA), comprising 30 professionals, emphasized the importance of efficiency, functionality, and aesthetic appeal while being mindful of managing public funds responsibly.

Key topics of discussion included the incorporation of historical and community-focused elements, the flexibility of space use, and the maintenance of buildings and landscaping for long-term sustainability. Councilmembers expressed their desire for detailed floor plans and alternative finish options that align with the Town's character and values.

Looking ahead, Mayor Meerbott proposed organizing further workshops to delve into specific project details and gather input from the council. These workshops aim to ensure transparency, foster collaboration, and address any concerns or suggestions raised by the community.
