The Cutler Bay Policing Unit was conceived through an interlocal agreement between the Town of Cutler Bay and Miami-Dade County. The Unit officially began its operations with the Town on August 23, 2006. Charged with the primary responsibility to protect, the Unit is fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the Cutler Bay community, emphasizing community-oriented policing and traffic safety. The Unit is responsible for maintaining order and providing for the safe and expeditious flow of residents and visitors while upholding the values of integrity, respect, service, and fairness. The daily operations and administration of the Unit are overseen by the Town Manager with the assistance of a Police Major and Lieutenant.
- Increase community involvement in safety and crime awareness by presenting literature and educational classes to private and public schools, civic groups and during public meetings.
- Enhance crime trend identification and reporting techniques.
- Enhance sexual predator monitoring.
- Increase enforcement initiatives to reduce crimes against persons in the town.
- Enhance the quality of investigations by unit detectives.
- Identify hazardous street intersections where traffic collisions are occurring.
Town residents can now view reported crimes, within their neighborhoods, by simply following the instructions below:
The Town of Cutler Bay is included as one of the sub-categories under districts. When you open the link you will see the tabs that state What, Where, When, etc. Under "where", select police districts, then Cutler Bay. Update map and you are ready to view the map. The selected crimes will appear.
The Neighborhood Resource Unit ("NRU")
The NRU (or "Unit") utilizes a community-oriented policing approach to servicing the community. This includes establishing policies and strategies aimed at achieving more effective and efficient crime control. The NRU strives to improve quality of life by utilizing a proactive reliance approach on community resources which seeks to change crime causing conditions. These efforts contribute greatly in reducing the fear of crime in the community. The NRU maintain contact with business and homeowner associations to solicit their concerns and input.
