Roger Coriat has been a resident of South Florida since 1977 and of Cutler Bay since 2009. He studied at the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History. Roger teaches Contemporary World History and Theory of Knowledge in the International Baccalaureate program at John A. Ferguson High School. He has been an educator at the high school and college level for eighteen years.
The Coriat family (Roger, his wife Jessica, and their daughter Sarah) enjoy all that Cutler Bay and South Florida have to offer, whether fishing in the Keys, visiting farmers markets in the Redlands, walking Lincoln Road, or enjoying dinner at the local sports bar. Roger and Jessica have both dedicated their careers to social service, and believe education is the best way to guarantee a promising future. Jessica is a lifelong resident of South Dade.
Prior to serving on the Town Council, Roger was a member of the Education Advisory Committee, and maintaining academic excellence in our town's schools remains a priority for him. Currently, Roger serves as Town Council liaison of the Parks and Recreation Committee. Another major goal of his term is to preserve the health and natural beauty of our town's environment, curbing the harmful impact of overdevelopment while allowing for responsible growth. Ultimately, it is the people of Cutler Bay, and not outside interests, that must be represented.
