Peggy R. Bell
Mayor Peggy Bell has served Cutler Bay on the town council since it was incorporated in 2006. Peggy and her husband Marty, married 35 years, have lived in Cutler Bay over thirty years. They have a son attending college. Mayor Bell retired from a career in aviation, having worked for Eastern Airlines and Pan Am World Airways. She and her husband are small business owners, operating a tree nursery. Mayor Bell works for the town full time.
Mayor Bell was a founding member of the Cutler Ridge Area Steering Committee. She co-founded United Citizens of Cutler Bay, to promote the new town. A former PTSA president and 4H leader, she holds a Florida realtor license and serves as Vice President on a local board of directors.
Mayor Bell has served as Town Council liaison on several citizen advisory committees, including Parks and Recreation, logo, clerk search, town events and, currently, the Youth Council Committee. She was also a member of the most recent Charter Revision Committee.
Among other accomplishments, Mayor Bell played an instrumental role in acquiring a 73 acre park and eight million dollars in funding from Miami-Dade County to develop the park, which more than doubled the park space in the Town of Cutler Bay.
Along with the Town’s leadership in environmental issues, good schools, and beautification efforts, she is most proud of working with the town council and staff to lower the town’s millage rate to below that of 2006, while keeping very healthy reserves.
"I believe we need a government that is responsive to all residents, not beholden to special interests or groups. My record of achievement, leadership and experience can only be used to its full potential, if I continue to listen to the concerns and issues of all of our residents". - Mayor Peggy Bell
