Get To Know Your Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (P&R)
The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is to study, advise, and make recommendations to the Town Council regarding the development and usage of the Town parks and recreational facilities (Town Resolution 06-97). Furthermore, this committee assists with planning and organizing Town events and cultural programs. (Resolution #09-74)
The Committee consists of 11 citizens of the Town appointed by the Town Council, two committee members per Council Member. Council Members collectively select one committee member at large by a majority vote.
The Council also appoints five additional members, chosen by each Council Member nominating one member from a list of persons who volunteer by advising the Town Manager or a Council Member of their interest in serving on said Committee.
All members of the Committee, including all current members and new appointees, shall serve at the pleasure of the Council Member who appointed the member for a period of one year from the effective date of Resolution 09-74, unless removed earlier by the appointing Council Member.
The Committee shall be dissolved at such time as the Council accepts its recommendations and/or advises the Committee that its services are no longer required.
