In addition, the Florida Department of Health is recommending residents protect themselves and their community from COVID-19. To do this, the department recommends that people wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing their nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, people should use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Residents should also avoid close contact with people who are sick, and stay home when they are sick.
