U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Public Meeting TONIGHT
Post Date:02/20/2020 5:34 PM
Our sincere apologies for the short notice regarding a public meeting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering (USACE) is hosting TODAY, Thursday, 2/20/20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in our Town Council Chambers. There was some miscommunication in the event logistics and, unfortunately, this meeting was not promoted with time. Fortunately, public comments for this meeting will be accepted until March 16 and details on where to send them to are indicated below.
The USACE Jacksonville District is holding this public meeting in for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Combined Operational Plan (COP).
The purpose of the COP is to define operations for the constructed features of the Modified Water Deliveries to Everglades National Park and Canal 111 South Dade Projects, while maintaining the congressionally authorized purposes of the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Project, to include flood control; water supply for agricultural irrigation, municipalities and industry; regional groundwater control and prevention of saltwater intrusion; enhancement of fish and wildlife; and recreation. The proposed action within the Draft EIS would occur within the Everglades of southeastern Florida in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Combined Operational Plan (COP) is available for review and comment at: www.saj.usace.army.mil/COP.
Information on the public meetings and how to provide public comment are also available at the same location (note: large files may take a few minutes to download).
Please submit public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Combined Operational Plan (COP) to Melissa.A.Nasuti@usace.army.mil by March 16, 2020. All comments should include "COP Draft EIS Comments" in the subject line.
