CUTLER BAY, FL—On Friday October 25, 2019 more than 4,000 participants came out to Cutler Ridge Park for the Town of Cutler Bay’s Halloween Spooktacular and Halloween Golf Cart Parade. Superheroes, Zombies, and Villains invaded the park and enjoyed the festivities!

The family-friendly event provided many entertaining activities and features which included: face painting, bounce houses, games, a photo booth, food trucks, trunk-or-treat, a haunted house and a Halloween costume contest.

One of the event’s highlights was the Halloween Golf Cart Parade. Over 300 golf carts participated in the parade, which included Mayor Tim Meerbott, Council Member BJ Duncan, Council Member Roger Coriat, and Congresswoman Donna E. Shalala. The Halloween Golf Cart Parade tradition, started by Cutler Bay residents Kevin Witherspoon and his wife, highlights the Town Residents’ creativity. This year, some of the show-stopping decorated golf carts included a U.F.O., a pirate ship, a bathtub (complete with bubbles and a rubber ducky), and a tiki bar. As the parade has grown, the Town has provided Police Officers to escort the parade through the streets to ensure everyone’s safety for the last two years.

“The Town’s annual Halloween event and golf cart parade has become one of the most anticipated events our residents participate in,” expressed Mayor Tim Meerbott. “Every year, our residents highlight their creativity through their costumes and golf cart decorations—which is very amusing to see. This event also unites our community, as it provides neighbors an opportunity to catch up with one another.”

Another one of the event’s biggest attraction was the haunted house, which annually draws over 2,000 visitors. This year’s haunted house had three spooky themes: Stranger Things, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and It. The Town’s Aquatics Coordinator and lifeguards worked tirelessly to design and build the haunted house in the weeks leading up to the event and also acted as haunters during the event.

The Town thanks the event sponsors Barnard Law Offices and Rivera Events, and all the local businesses and organizations that participated in the Trunk or Treat.
